This free unit price calculator shows which pack is really cheaper. Enter the price and size of up to four products, and it works out the price per 100 g, per 100 ml or per item.
A bigger pack is not always better value. Similarly, a smaller pack at the same price is a price rise in disguise, which is often called shrinkflation.

How to use the unit price calculator
- Enter the price of each product in the same currency.
- Enter the size printed on the pack, such as 400 g or 1.5 l.
- Choose the unit: grams, kilograms, millilitres, litres or items.
- Press Compare to see the cheapest option and how much more the others cost.
Why unit prices matter
Shops often show a unit price on the shelf label, but it can be small, hard to read, or shown in different units for similar products. For example, one brand may show a price per kilo while another shows a price per 100 g. This unit price calculator puts every product on the same basis, so the comparison is fair.
Example
Imagine a 400 g pack costs 2.50 and a 750 g pack costs 4.20. At first glance the smaller pack looks cheaper. However, the unit price calculator shows that the small pack costs 0.63 per 100 g, while the larger pack costs 0.56 per 100 g, so the bigger pack is about 12% cheaper.
Tips for smarter shopping
- Compare like with like: weights with weights, volumes with volumes, or items with items.
- Check multipacks and special offers too, because they are not always the cheapest per unit.
- Watch for packs that shrink while the price stays the same.
